A Letter From Fran
Dear Friend and Valued Supporter,
In 2010, we came the closest ever to defeating Carolyn McCarthy – the darling of the liberal left – in her 18 years in Congress. In 2012, with redistricting reducing significantly the Democrat advantage, it seemed with a strong run by a Republican Presidential Candidate, Mrs. McCarthy would finally be defeated. However, as we know President Obama did very well on Long Island as he did across the nation. Few believed that President Obama would be as successful as he was in his re-election effort, which assisted many incumbents in overcoming strong challenges from candidates like me.
I look now to the mid-term elections in 2014 where incumbents will not have the cover of running in a presidential year and will be forced to be held accountable for their policy failures. One of the most important issues that will have significant visibility in 2014 is Obamacare. This regressive legislation, which Mrs. McCarthy wholeheartedly supported, is surely to have a severe negative impact on our healthcare and economy as it is fully implemented in the coming months. The other issue will, of course, be the skyrocketing massive national debt and continuing weak economy.
As the father of three daughters and six grandchildren, I worry deeply about the future of our nation and if my children and grandchildren will ever enjoy the same standard of living and security we have known that now seems to be slipping away. I am sure you have the same worries for your family. Carolyn McCarthy must be held accountable for having pursued polices that have so clearly failed us, and have put our nation and its future into grave danger.
America is in decline. People are suffering from a terrible economy, from loss of income, from job-killing regulations and from a national debt that will destroy America if we don’t act now.
Also, our status in the world has diminished as a result of our failure to deal with the problems in the Middle East, primarily by seeking to appease those who want to hurt us. And Mrs. McCarthy has stood silent while President Obama has turned his back on the one true friend we have in the Middle East, Israel.
We all know we are not better off today than we were four years ago under this administration. But will we be better off in the future? Surely, continuing with the same failed policies of the President are only going to make matters worse. I believe 2014 will truly be the tipping point when the mystique of the President finally falters and our fellow citizens realize that his administration and policies have all but destroyed the American Dream.
I am a proven fighter for the people who has already cut spending and the size of government as a County Legislator. I have done it here and I will do it in Washington when finally elected in 2014. My dream has always been to share with you a great victory for our community and country by winning Congress. Together, I believe we can make it happen in 2014.
