From the LIFEPAC PRESS RELEASE:
“At a special meeting May 29th held by members of LIFEPAC & their parent organization Knights for Life, it was decided to endorse County Legislator Francis Becker in the Republican and Conservative primary election to be held June.
There were several factors that led to the endorsement of Becker, the most important being his actions in defending the nurses at the Nassau University Medical Center, who refused, on grounds of conscience, to participate in abortions and were facing serious punishment as a result. Legislator Becker’s strong letter and warning of serious action led to the collapse of the attack on the nurses. Fran Becker was the first candidate in the state to submit his response to the prolife questionnaire requested by the Long Island Coalition for Life and the N.Y. State Right to Life Committee. His website also clearly states his right to life commitment.
LIFEPAC and Knights for Life interviewed Mr. Becker at length at their joint meeting on May 22“d. He presented his case and was closely questioned by Dan Maloney, who had run in the primary for Congress two years ago, and by the members present. His answers and remarks were well received and made it clear that he thinks the same way we do.”
