Francis X. Becker, Jr. is the first elected representative of the 6th Legislative District in the Nassau County Legislature. A popular and beloved fiscal conservative, Fran has been re-elected to the legislature by wide margins for ten consecutive terms. The 6th District covers southwest Nassau County including Lynbrook, Malverne, North Lynbrook, most of Valley Stream and East Rockaway, south Rockville Centre and portions of North Valley Stream and Oceanside. Fran ran for this seat in 2010 and came historically close to beating Carolyn McCarthy. Fran vows to finish the job in 2012 and restore common sense leadership to NY-4.
Education & Career
Fran is a proud Long Islander and a graduate of Lynbrook High School. He attended Nassau Community College and Hofstra University where he studied Business Finance. Professionally, Fran is President of Becker & Associates Planning Services and is a Certified Financial Planner.
It is Fran’s business acumen and skills as a Certified Financial Planner that he will bring to bear on a Congress and a nation that so desperately needs a lesson in sound financial planning.
Community Leader
Fran served as the Chairman of the Major Project Cerebral Palsy Committee for the New York #1 Elks Lodge for 20 consecutive years and is presently the Chairman of the Americanism Committee. He is a Past Exalted Ruler of the Lodge, as well. Fran is also a member of the Holy Name Society, the Mom and Dads Club of Lynbrook High School, the Knights of Columbus and other community organizations. He is a former coach of the Lynbrook Titans Football and Lacrosse teams.
Husband, Father, Grandfather
Fran and his wife of over 38 years, the former Clementine Giordano, reside in Lynbrook in the home that was his grandfather’s, the former Congressman Frank J. Becker. Fran and Clementine have three daughters. Madeline is a graduate of William & Mary and is married to David Williams. The Williams live in Massachusetts and have four children Grace, Collin, Danny and Faith. Beth is
a graduate of Boston College and is married to Neil Sutton. The Suttons live in Sacramento and have two children, Lucas and Lilly. Diana, a graduate of Cornell University, works in Manhattan.
