Fran Signs Taxpayer Protection Pledge
6/11/12: Fran Becker signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge, promising not to raise the marginal income tax rates for individuals or businesses. The pledge also endorses not eliminating tax deductions unless matched by tax cuts.
The Federal Taxpayer Protection Pledge began in 1986 under President Reagan. Members of Congress are asked annually to sign the pledge. As of the 112th Congress, 236 Congressmen and 41 Senators have signed the pledge. It has also been signed by almost every major Republican presidential candidate since its inception.
